Which KINSHUN® model is best for general mold cavity finishing?
The KIN-520A is our most widely used model for mold finishing. Its 22,000 RPM speed, compact 155mm length, and interchangeable 3mm/6mm collets suit the majority of mold cavity finishing tasks. For mirror-finish requirements, the KIN-830A is recommended.
Can KINSHUN® grinders handle hardened tool steel such as H13 or D2?
Yes. KINSHUN® pen-type grinders are regularly used on H13, D2, S136, and NAK80. Select the appropriate mounted point or carbide burr for the hardness level, and operate at 90 PSI.
What collet sizes are available?
Most models support interchangeable collets in 3.0mm, 2.38mm (3/32"), and 3.175mm (1/8") — covering the majority of mounted points and polishing shanks used in mold finishing.
What air pressure and consumption is required?
Standard operating pressure is 90 PSI (6.3 kgf/cm²). Air consumption is typically 2–4 CFM depending on model.
